Become a Host Community

Share your wisdom. Shape the future of sanctuary building.

Invitation

WholeFam is conducting a field research project to learn directly from communities pioneering new ways of living, learning, and caring. We are inviting select communities to consider hosting a WholeFam researcher for a short residency (generally 10–14 days).

By opening your doors, you contribute not only to our learning but to a wider movement: documenting practical wisdom for communities everywhere.

What Hosting Involves

  • A simple guest space: modest room or cabin, quiet workspace, and access to shared facilities.
  • Shared meals: or kitchen access for self-catering.
  • Openness to dialogue: a willingness to share your story, structure, and insights through conversation and observation.

What We Provide

  • A self-sustaining guest: our researchers are digital nomads, financially independent, and accustomed to simple monastic-style living.
  • A modest daily stipend: for accommodation and meals, if needed. Some financially strong communities may choose to host as a contribution; for smaller, budget-conscious communities, we are glad to offset costs.
  • Respect for your rhythm: our presence is light, observant, and aligned with your existing flow.
  • Responsible logistics: we take care of visas, travel, insurance, and personal needs.

What You Can Expect

  • A two-week stay by one researcher.
  • Interviews and observation focused on your unique strengths, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Visibility on our WholeFam site as a valued contributor to this global inquiry.
  • A chance to influence future sanctuary building by sharing your lived wisdom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this take staff time or extra work?

A: Minimal. We primarily observe, listen, and share in the normal rhythm of community life. Interviews can be scheduled at your convenience.

Q: Do we need to cover expenses?

A: No. We are self-sustaining. We can offer a modest stipend for accommodation and meals if that helps your community.

Q: Is this a volunteer program?

A: No. Our researchers are not coming to work for the community but to learn with the community. However, light participation (meals, shared duties, daily rhythm) is natural and welcomed.

Q: What about visas and travel?

A: We handle all visa requirements, travel bookings, and personal logistics.

Q: What will be shared publicly?

A: Communities will be acknowledged on our site as contributors to the project. Sensitive details can be kept confidential — we respect your boundaries.
